Song “Fuego en el 23” (Fire in the 23rd)”

This week we release the complete transcription of the song “Fuego en el 23”, a composition by the legendary Cuban musician Arsenio Rodriguez, inspired by a true story.

Years later, in 1969, under the direction of maestro Enrique “Quique” Lucca and the arrangement of the great Papo Lucca, they produced the first version of the Sonora Ponceña, published in the album “Fuego en el 23” (Inca Records 1969) with the voices of Luigi Texidor and Tito Gómez.

Twelve years later it was updated and Sonora Ponceña released a new version on the album “Jubilee” in 1985.

In Piano Salsa we wanted to transcribe the first version recorded by the Sonora Ponceña as a tribute to one of the greatest pianists in the history of salsa, maestro Papo Lucca.

The video tutorial with the complete song (demo) and a second video with the detailed explanation + the backing track without the piano are available for practice.

You will find it together with its PDF and the MP3 backing track in the section of: REPERTORIO of the MEDIUM LEVEL and also in our ALL REPERTORIO course.
